This famous classic American Chocolate Chip cookie is a treat no matter what the age or occasion. Enjoy it with a glass of cold milk.
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, combine white sugar, brown sugar, butter and salt beating until smooth and creamy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl with a spatula to make sure everything is thoroughly combined.
Combine flour and baking soda in a separate bowl.
Stir in the flour mixture;
Add chocolate chips, and nuts and mix well.
Scoop about 1 1/4″ balls of dough onto non-greased baking sheets, leaving 2″ between them on all sides; they will spread.
Bake for about 9-11 minutes in the preheated oven, or until light brown color. Cool for couple minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
***Tip- Aluminum foil can be used to keep food moist, cook it evenly, and make clean-up easier.
