Chocolate covered strawberries are perfect treat to make for weddings or special occasions. Why not make some for your special Valentine? Easy homemade chocolate covered strawberries can be drizzled with white chocolate for a fancy look. Customize this chocolate covered strawberry recipe by using your favorite type of chocolate.

Serves 4-6

Ingredients:
12 oz. large strawberries
16 ounces of your favorite chocolate (semisweet, milk, dark)
3 tsp. shortening (or butter)
4 ounces white chocolate (optional)

Instructions:
Wash and dry strawberries. Make sure that strawberries are totally dry.

Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
In a double boiler melt the (semisweet, milk or dark) chocolate and 2 teaspoon shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth.
For each strawberry, poke toothpick into stem end, and dip 3/4 of the way into melted chocolate, leaving top of strawberry and leaves uncoated. Hold strawberry above melted chocolate. Swirl and shake to remove excess chocolate.

Lay strawberry on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with all of the strawberries.

Melt white chocolate and 1 tsp. shortening in the top of a double boiler. Place melted white chocolate into sandwich size zip bag; make a tiny whole and drizzle onto chocolate covered strawberries.

*** you can save some strawberries and dip in white chocolate and drizzle with dark chocolate or sprinkle mini chocolate chips.Design can be as desired. (I like lines).  Keep strawberries at room temperature and serve within couple hours or refrigerate for up to one or two days (chocolate will start to separate from the strawberries after being cooled).

Enjoy!!!
